I was delighted to find these little bundles of bittersweet at the market on Saturday. Who would not be delighted to be handed a sweet bouquet like this? Maybe the bittersweet in one hand and a mini pumpkin in the other.

These dahlias survived a morning almost frost? Or was it a frost? All I know is they were unexpected and fantastic.

A little further on there were these.

Pinks or yellows your choice.

You might remember “Charlie” from a few weeks back… sampling the juices at Liquid Garden? Well Saturday she was in no mood to be messed with and she did not want to have to be bothered to carry that bag. She has all the makings of a force to be reckoned with. She was practicing giving me the side-eye. It’s best to learn these things young.

I have got to make some butternut squash bisque. Soon. The one with the tiniest hint of cayenne, served with some really good crusty bread on the side.

Here is what my basket held this week. There was no skimping or penny pinching. I went all out.

Here is the bittersweet bundle I got.

Have you heard that phrase “eat the rainbow”. I think this photo sums it up nicely.

All rainbows should have caramel apple cake at the end too.

Life is all about balance.

I must have learned the side at my mother’s side! Love that she is learning so young!
